"Ajining oneself soko busono" is a Javanese proverb that will remain relevant forever. Because what we wear is a representation of ourselves. Wearing clothes that have value is the same as a reflection of ourselves that have value and meaning.

All the motifs in Ulur Wiji come from listening. Listening to what's around us creates the "grazing" motif, listening to environmental concerns creates the "ocean and forest" motif, listening to the sounds of farmers planting rice near our workplace creates the "tandur" motif. Likewise, many other motifs often arise from listening to what #TemanWiji has to say to us.

From what we've heard, it's expressed in motifs drawn on a clean, white cloth. These motifs will then tell a narrative story.

Each piece of fabric involves the hands of many artisans. Batik artisans apply wax to create motifs, and dye artisans fill in the gaps between the waxes with repeated dipping. Finally, sewing artisans cut and assemble the fabric into valuable garments for #FriendsofWIji.

Ulur Wiji regenerates Indonesian artisans and textile lovers for the next generation, sustainably by contributing to reducing the environmental impact of the textile production process, impact and becoming a bridge for more productive and empowered village women.
