THE STORY — MEKAR

MEKAR is inspired by the moment when something begins to grow and open itself to the world.

Like a flower slowly coming into bloom, every stage has its own time. Its motif and form are a reminder that growth does not always need to be rushed—it needs process, space, and care.

Each MEKAR Tunic is crafted by young women artisans in Pandan Krajan Village, Mojokerto, making every piece part of a shared journey of growth between craft, people, and village.

THE MATERIAL

Made from 100% Lyocell, a lightweight fibre with a soft, cool feel and natural drape.

The tunic is finished with buttons made from reclaimed shell waste, giving the piece a simple, natural detail while making use of previously unused material.

THE CRAFT

The MEKAR motif is created using Batik Cap (Hand-Stamped Batik) and then dyed using plants cultivated locally in Indonesia.

Each stage is carefully carried out by young women artisans in Pandan Krajan Village, Mojokerto, with attention to the character and details of the fabric.

The combination of traditional textile techniques, natural materials, and contemporary design reflects Ulur Wiji's approach to creating craft that remains relevant to everyday life.

HOW TO WEAR

Pair it with straight-leg or wide-leg trousers for an urban minimalist look.

For a more relaxed style, wear it with lightweight trousers or a long skirt.

The tunic silhouette also makes MEKAR an effortless statement piece that needs little accessorising.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• For the first wash, hand wash separately. A washing machine may be used afterwards, but hand washing is recommended to help preserve the fabric fibres.
• Use a neutral or near-neutral pH detergent, such as mild baby soap, gentle dish soap, or natural lerak solution.
• Dry in the shade and avoid direct sunlight.

PLEASE NOTE

We embrace a handmade and slow-fashion process. Standard-size orders can be processed more quickly, while darker colours require additional time for the dyeing process.

Colour may appear slightly different from the product shown due to photography lighting and individual screen settings.

Because natural dyes are used, each piece develops its own unique colour character. Colour similarity is approximately 95% and cannot be guaranteed to be exactly identical to the product shown.
