THE STORY

BAWANG is inspired by the Indonesian folktale of Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih, a story that explores the complexity of human character.

Rather than seeing people as simply good or bad, the story reflects the idea that human nature exists in many shades and contradictions.

The BAWANG collection also draws inspiration from onions as one of Indonesia's important agricultural commodities, which grow particularly well across the country's fertile landscapes.

Through this collection, Ulur Wiji explores duality, contrast, and the complexity of human nature through contemporary clothing and Indonesian textile craftsmanship.

THE MATERIAL

The BAWANG Kebaya Blouse is made from 100% cotton with a closely woven structure that provides a comfortable feel without becoming overly stiff.

Its natural character makes it versatile enough for everyday wear, whether styled for work or a casual gathering with people close to you.

THE CRAFT

The BAWANG motif is created using the traditional Batik Tulis (hand-drawn batik) technique, with the dyeing process carefully measured and carried out by Ulur Wiji artisans.

Every stage is completed with close attention to detail, allowing each piece to carry its own character and subtle variations.

HOW TO WEAR

Pair it with a simple inner layer and relaxed trousers for a clean, urban-minimalist look.

CARE

• For the first wash, we recommend hand washing the garment separately. It can be machine washed afterward, but hand washing is recommended to help preserve the fabric fibers for longer.
• Use a neutral or near-neutral pH detergent, such as mild dish soap, baby detergent, or natural lerak soap solution.
• Dry in a shaded area and avoid direct sunlight.
