THE STORY — BAWANG

BAWANG is inspired by the Indonesian folktale of Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih—a story that reminds us that human nature is rarely simply good or bad.

The collection explores the nuances and dualities within us, while drawing inspiration from bawang as one of the crops that grows well across the Indonesian landscape.

The result is a contemporary interpretation of batik that brings a familiar cultural story into a modern wardrobe.

THE MATERIAL

Made from a Linen-Cotton Blend, the fabric offers a comfortable feel for everyday wear.

Its natural character makes the vest an easy layering piece that can be styled across different looks and occasions.

THE CRAFT

The BAWANG motif is created using Batik Tulis (Hand-Drawn Batik), with the dyeing process carefully carried out by Ulur Wiji artisans.

Each stage is completed with attention to detail, allowing every piece to retain its own subtle character.

HOW TO WEAR

Layer it over a simple inner top and relaxed trousers for an urban minimalist look.

For a more effortless styling, it can also be worn as a standalone top. Its boxy silhouette naturally provides coverage around the sides of the body.

Pair it with a skirt for a softer interpretation or with tailored trousers for a more structured look.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• For the first wash, hand wash separately. A washing machine may be used afterwards, but hand washing is recommended to help preserve the fabric fibres.
• Use a neutral or near-neutral pH detergent, such as mild dish soap, baby soap, or natural lerak solution.
• Dry in the shade and avoid direct sunlight.

PLEASE NOTE

We embrace a handmade and slow-fashion process. Standard-size orders can be processed more quickly, while darker colours may require additional time for the dyeing process.

Colour may appear slightly different from the product shown due to photography lighting and individual screen settings.

Because natural dyes are used, every piece develops its own unique colour character. Colour similarity is approximately 95% and cannot be guaranteed to be exactly identical to the product shown.
