HUTAN KEBAYA OUTER
HUTAN KEBAYA OUTER
THE STORY — HUTAN
HUTAN is inspired by life within the forest—its diversity, balance, and the relationship between people and nature.
Each piece is created as part of a journey to preserve Indonesian textile traditions while creating opportunities for young women artisans in Pandan Krajan Village, Mojokerto.
THE MATERIAL
Made from 100% Cotton with a natural, breathable feel.
The fabric is dyed using plants cultivated locally in Indonesia, giving each piece its own distinctive colour character.
The buttons are made from reclaimed shell waste, giving previously unused material a new purpose through a simple yet considered detail.
THE CRAFT
The HUTAN motif is created using Batik Tulis (Hand-Drawn Batik) and made manually by young women artisans in Pandan Krajan Village, Mojokerto.
The natural dyeing process is carried out gradually and requires time, particularly when developing deeper shades.
Because natural dyes respond uniquely to the process, every piece develops subtle variations in colour and character.
HOW TO WEAR
Layer it over a dress, blouse, or simple top for a more refined look.
Pair it with clean-cut trousers or a skirt to create an urban minimalist silhouette with a touch of Indonesian tradition.
The lined construction also makes it suitable for occasions that call for a more polished interpretation of the kebaya.
